I am ashamed to admit this: I did not see my first Star Wars movie until well after the first three movies were released. (And I was old enough to do so!) I did not see the destruction of the Death Star on the big screen or Han Solo wooing Leia. But I eventually caught up and am now a convert nonetheless! I will not miss another Star Wars movie on the big screen even if I have go by myself.
Being a fan of Lego's as well, I can't think of a better marriage than Lego Star Wars kits???
If I were a kid, these are the ones I'd want. Then again, I'm old enough to buy whatever I want now!
1. LEGO Star Wars Death Star
Well you know and I know that this one had to be first right? The Lego Death Star has a superlaser control room, Imperial conference chamber, hangar bay, 23 mini-figures including Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca. It also has 3 Lightsabers, 4 blasters, 3 blaster pistols, and much, much more. I'm starting to think I should buy this one for myself!
2. LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon
Despite the fact that it seems like Han and Chewie were always trying to get the Millennium Falcon to run right, obviously it was still a totally cool ship. No Star Wars Lego collection would be complete without it.
3. LEGO Star Wars Episode VIII First Order Heavy Assault Walker
I always thought the assault walkers were reminiscent of elephants but as it turns out the inspiration for them was the Paraceratherium, an extinct type of rhinoceros. They looked undefeatable in The Empire Strikes Back but of course our hero Luke Skywalker found a way to bring them down.
4. LEGO Star Wars VIII BB-8
Who didn't love BB-8??? Much like R2-D2 before him, BB-8 brings the cute factor while being smart enough to save the day when needed. (I also have the BB-8 Halloween basket, just because. When it's not collecting candy it stores our TV remotes.)
5. LEGO Star Wars Episode VIII Kylo Ren's Tie Fighter
Kylo Ren, the somewhat strange looking progeny of Han and Leia, (whose looks is he supposed to have inherited?), is the owner of this tie fighter. The kit includes 3 minifigures: Kylo Ren, a First Order TIE Pilot and a First Order Stormtrooper, plus a BB-9E figure.
6. LEGO Star Wars Poe's X-Wing Fighter
Poe is depicted as one of the best pilots in the galaxy and he gets to fly this very cool X-Wing. I enjoyed his character in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and hope to see more of him. The kit includes 3 minifigures - Poe Dameron, Resistance ground crew and a Resistance X-Wing Pilot. It also has a BB-8 Astromech Droid.
7. LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter
What kid didn't want to fly a TIE Fighter? The Lego TIE Fighter Kit comes with a Pilot mini-figure with a blaster pistol and also has a hatch which opens. Don't you just love it when doors and things actually function on toy models? I guess I always found moving parts fascinating on the old Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars when I was a kid and the feeling is the same here.
8. LEGO Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter
Here's yet another fighter that every kid (and big kid) wanted to fly. There's even an article THE 5 BEST WAYS TO EXPERIENCE FLYING AN X-WING RIGHT NOW . The article presents some very cool ideas that might give you a quick fix. In the meantime, this kit has wings that open (hooray!) as well as retractable landing gear and a removable hyperdrive. Also included is a mini-figure for the cockpit, some spring-loaded shooters, and a detachable BB-8 Astromech Droid. Very cool indeed.
9. LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
The shuttle Tydirium was featured in the scenes which lead up to the destruction of the second Death Star. Like the Millenium Falcon it too was a stolen vehicle. The finished product has all the moving parts I could want like folding wings, retractable landing gear and a cockpit that opens. It also comes with a few mini-figures.
10. LEGO Star Wars 10236 Ewok Village
And finally, the Ewok village. Much like R2D2 and C3PO they were meant to fascinate kids and make us all say Aww.... in a cute but I'll club you over the head kind of way. Mostly I did find the Ewoks adorable. Although it seems strange calling anything in Star Wars adorable? The Ewok village includes a whopping 1990 pieces, 16 mini-figurines including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. It has weapons, a secret tree lightsaber stash, and just so much more you have to check it out.
